Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to take a shock lead. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
